Residential property taxes are up a compounded 31% since 2021, with families and seniors paying over 94% of the load. The solution is growth — attracting light manufacturing, logistics, food processing, and medical services that generate strong tax revenue, while supporting the local businesses we already have.
Widening Highway 17 and securing a public-transit agreement with OC Transpo would give residents faster, safer, more reliable travel — less congestion, shorter commutes, and direct connections to Ottawa for work, school, and essential services.
As a councillor in 2022 I supported the maintenance program for our 91 km of gravel roads, and I'll keep investing to keep them in good condition. For our asphalt roads — among the city's most valuable assets — we need preventive maintenance instead of waiting for costly reconstruction.
Speeding and unsafe driving are among the top concerns I hear. I'll work with the OPP to increase targeted enforcement where residents report problems, and push for an online reporting tool through the City's app so enforcement goes where it's needed most.
